AlertUR

AlertUR is the University's emergency notification system. In the event of an emergency, alerts are sent to the University community by phone call, text message, or email. All students and employees are automatically enrolled with their University email address. You can opt to provide other contact information by logging in to the system with your NetID.

Blackboard (Learning Management System) – For Faculty & Instructors

Blackboard is the University's Learning Management System and provides faculty and instructors a place to manage their course content, collect student assignments, facilitate online tests, and more. It also provides access to many of the technology tools available for teaching.

Cloud Computing for Non-Research

UR-sponsored cloud services for faculty, staff and departments include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) via Microsoft Azure and AWS. Consult your local IT staff regarding cloud use within your unit or department. We are also available to consult regarding technology options.

Cloud Computing for Research

The Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC) supports UR-Sponsored Cloud services (Azure & AWS) and On-premise High Performance Computing (HPC) for research. Services include centralized billing, UR-negotiated price discounts, training, trouble-shooting, and custom solutions to facilitate your computational research needs.

Electronic File Management (OnBase)

OnBase integrates document management, workflow processing, and records management. It allows you to scan, store, index, and retrieve any paper documents, emails, multimedia, and many other types of files.

General Encumbrance Management System (URGEMS)

URGEMS is a general encumbrance management tool used to track and manage transaction details that shadow the UR Financials system, for both grant and non-grant accounts.

Human Resource Management System (HRMS)

The Human Resource Management System (HRMS) allows you to access payroll, benefits, and recruiting information. It also supports time keeping and attendance tracking for staff and students through the Kronos clocks that are installed in many University workspaces.

Institutional Business and Data Glossary (Data Cookbook)

The business glossary provides authoritative definitions for institutional data related to clinical, administrative, research, and instructional activities. The Data Cookbook hosts the glossary online and provides a forum for communicating with data experts and users. This central resource creates reliability and consistency in reporting and systems across the University.

Institutional Data Reporting (Cognos)

Cognos offers drag-and-drop report building to summarize and organize institutional data from the Data Warehouse. Cognos tools include Query Studio, Workspace Advanced, and Report Studio.

Institutional Data Visualization (Tableau)

Tableau allows users to make ‘visual sense’ of data and through the use of interactive controls, such as filters and parameters, a user can see various aspects of a data set. It is available as a desktop application or as a limited web interface application. The desktop application is available to purchase through University IT ( click on the Request button below).

Integrated Online Research Administration (IORA)

IORA is a comprehensive suite of software solutions capable of managing various research functions. This system replaced the previous grants database, UR-Coeus. It is the repository for all Funded and Unfunded grant agreements. IORA is part of a larger, institution-wide Research Administration Systems Modernization Plan.

Integration Platform (Boomi)

The integration platform allows users to build, deploy, and manage integrations between databases, applications, and software-as-a-service both on premise and in the cloud. The platform can be utilized for self-service integration development, or University IT offers integration development services.

Parking Management System

The parking system manages online parking permits, citations, gates, and intercoms.

Piazza

Piazza is a free, online gathering place where students can ask, answer, and explore 24/7, under the guidance of their instructors. Students as well as instructors can answer questions, fueling a healthy, collaborative discussion.

Quality Assurance

University IT can assist you with quality assurance (QA) and testing of your applications. QA services include test strategy and planning, use case identification, exploratory testing, manual testing, automated testing, and browser emulation.

Reporting and Analytics (Institutional Data Warehouse)

University IT will consult with you on the use of reporting tools and resources, data gathering processes, proof-of-concept reporting, visualization creation, data analysis, and access to University data marts.

Space Management System (URSpace)

URSpace tracks physical space utilization and equipment inventory at the University, including who is assigned to a space, its square footage, and active equipment.

Talent Management System (MyPath)

MyPath is a companion system to HRMS. It brings together performance management, employee learning and development, competency assessments, and career planning into one suite of tools. MyPath is currently available to Medical Center employees and select staff in Central Administration. Faculty and remaining staff will begin using MyPath next year.

Timekeeping System (Kronos)

Kronos captures employee time swipes daily at 150+ time clocks and sends them to the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).

UKG

UKG is a cloud-based workforce management tool to support scheduling and timekeeping processes. At FF Thompson, UKG is being used for timekeeping, basic and advanced scheduling. Many units at Strong and Highland use UKG for advanced scheduling with more planned in the future.

United Way Reporting

United Way Reporting supports the annual campaign by compiling employee pledge data and campaign statistics for reporting purposes.

University-wide Research Resources

Researchers require technical assistance, aid with grant writing, understanding University and research policies and resources that are available through their department, school or center. The Office of the Vice President for Research has an extensive list of research resources and current information on guidance directly related to grant requirements.

UR Budget (Axiom)

UR Budget (Axiom) supports budget development and forecasting as part of the budget process.

UR Faculty

UR Faculty is University of Rochester’s faculty information system. This tool was designed to streamline workflows, improve data quality, and ensure consistency across the schools and units. It is broken down into four modules:

• Faculty Activity Data


URSecurePay

URSecurePay allows departments to securely accept credit card payments through University websites. Funds can be collected for goods and services, fees, and donations to the University.

Virtual desktop allows you to connect to software applications or a Windows desktop environment over the Internet, from anywhere and any device.
