The University of Rochester hosted the 13th annual Higher Education Data Warehousing (HEDW) Conference on April 3-6, 2016. Nearly 400 people from 140 colleges and universities in 6 countries gathered in Rochester to share resources and best practices for institutional reporting, analytics, and data management.

Attendees discussed data governance models that allow analysts to make links and identify trends across multiple data sets. They also shared their experiences with developing dashboards that provide deans and executives with a broad view of the current state of their institution, everything from student retention to research funding, advancement trends to international partnerships.

In addition to coordinating the conference, University IT staff provided two training sessions on Tableau, a tool for visualizing and analyzing institutional data sourced from the Data Warehouse and other resources. Staff from the Office of Institutional Research hosted two training sessions on Excel.
