Step 1
Create your 3D object using any 3D software you’re comfortable with, such as:
Step 2
Save the 3D object as an .stl file to a flash drive.
Step 3
To request a print job, bring the saved .stl file on your flash drive to the Help Desk in Rettner 201.
Before printing your object, you must agree to the terms of use.
*Please note: Requests for 3D prints will be processed in the order they are received.
Step 4
We will first process your .stl file through netfabb, Microsoft’s free model repair service.
We will contact you if problems arise during the netfabb process that cannot be corrected without altering the aesthetics of the model. To reduce the likelihood of problems with your model, we encourage you to process your file through netfabb yourself before submitting it for print.
Step 5
After your file has been approved for printing, you will need to read and sign the customer agreement form documenting the terms of service. It states:
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge and agree with the following statements:
- I approve the release of my printing request at the quoted price listed above.
- I acknowledge the Rettner Help Desk staff are not responsible for print failures or print anomalies due to model design flaws, user error or user negligence.
- I acknowledge the estimate date of completion is only an estimate. Print times may vary. An email will be sent to the above email address if the estimated date of completion cannot be met.
Step 6
The file will be queued for printing with a 3-5 day turnaround time unless otherwise stated.
