Why do we need another ID?
Microsoft’s Entra ID isn’t new; you’ve been using it anytime you log into Microsoft 365 applications, such as Outlook Web Access, OneDrive, or Microsoft Teams. We are now beginning to leverage its use for other applications, starting with the University Guest Account System. More applications will be changed over as we retire the NetID login.
Why can't I use my UR first.last or username@department.rochester.edu alias?
Entra accounts are synced from both the UR and URMC Active Directories.
For UR customers, the Entra username is always based on the Active Directory account name. The email address is unrelated to the Entra username.
For URMC customers, the Entra username is the URMC email address. The Active Directory username is unrelated to the Entra username.

How do I change my Entra ID password?
Since your Entra ID is synchronized with your Active Directory (AD) account, as an active student, continue to use Myidentity.rochester.edu to change your passwords.
If you have graduated, you will now change your password by logging into myaccount.microsoft.com and clicking “change password” on the Password tile.
If you have any questions, have trouble changing your password, or have forgotten your password, please contact the helpdesk.
