What is a Privileged Account?
Privileged accounts are user accounts with elevated access privileges to an organization’s systems and data, such as Administrative accounts or admin accounts. These user accounts with full administrative privileges to make changes to a system. They can install software, change system configurations, create or delete user accounts, and access sensitive data.
Why do we use MyPAM?
- Enhanced Security: Privileged accounts allow better control over critical systems and sensitive data access.
- Improved Compliance: Many regulatory standards require strict control and privileged access monitoring.
- Risk Mitigation: By enforcing the principle of least privilege, insider threats and credential theft risk is greatly reduced.
- Minimized Attack Surface: Privileged accounts are targeted by attackers. Privileged accounts have stricter security than everyday user accounts. If a user account is compromised, the attacker won’t have access to administrative privileges, and therefore, potential damage is limited.
