Blackboard Upgrade Coming This Summer

Beginning with summer 2016 courses, an upgraded version of the Blackboard Learning Management System (version 9.1) will be available on a new hardware platform.

There will be a new URL for the system: https://learn.rochester.edu. This will replace https://my.rochester.edu, https://bb.urmc.rochester.edu, and https://sonbb.urmc.rochester.edu.
All access to the new system will be through NetID credentials. If you are currently using a local Blackboard account or your URMC-AD account to access Blackboard, your user name and content will be automatically moved to your NetID credential for you.

New features include:

  • student preview mode for faculty (allows the instructor to navigate the course as a student, including submission of assignments and tests)
  • delegated grading (allows the instructor to assign grading groups of students to teaching assistants or graders within the course)
  • inline grading (allows the instructor to see the assignment submission on screen and include annotation and mark-up without having to download the file)
  • improvements to a number of Blackboard tools, including Qwickly and Date Manager

Training

Training sessions on the new features will be held on April 19 and April 22. Space is limited and a light lunch will be provided.
