Regularly updating software plays an important role in protecting your data. • Enable automatic updates: If you have a university-managed computer, you will receive system updates automatically. Many software applications have built-in automatic update features. Keep a clean updated machine. Update your computer, mobile phone, tablet software and apps often and turn on automatic updates on personal applications and devices. 

• Prioritize critical updates: If you cannot apply all updates immediately, prioritize critical updates that address known vulnerabilities. 

• Stay informed about security threats: Bookmark the security news and advisories pages to be aware of emerging threats and vulnerabilities.  

Regularly updating and keeping software current can significantly improve the security of your systems, the University network and protect yourself from cyberattacks and data loss.
