TikTok ban for any federally impacting research

On June 2, 2023, the U.S. Government implemented the interim rule, “Federal Acquisition Regulation: Prohibition on a ByteDance Covered Application”, which prohibits having or using the TikTok application on any device while under a federal contract (does not apply to grants), including personally-owned devices and those issued by the University.

Effective immediately, individuals who are involved in a federal contract must abide by this national security measure to protect U.S. Government information and information and communication technology systems.

Individuals who have the TikTok application on a University or personally owned device (such as a computer or cell phone), and who use or intend to use such device in the performance of a federal contract that contains FAR clause 52.204-27, must immediately remove the TikTok application. For those impacted, please use the following steps to remove the TikTok app from your Windows and/or iOS devices.
