As of April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide support, updates, or security patches for Windows XP, which raises the risk of infection by viruses and other malicious methods.
If you haven’t already done so, you should upgrade your systems to a currently supported version of the Windows operating system. For University owned computers, University IT recommends that you upgrade to Windows 7. For personal computers, University IT recommends using either Windows 7 or Windows 8.
Operating system upgrades are available for departmental or personal purchase through University IT Computer Sales, which has locations in the Medical Center (Room G-7220B, next to the Copy Center) and Rush Rhees Library (next to the IT Center).
