Please see the instructions below to properly forward suspicious emails as an attachment to abuse@rochester.edu.

Outlook Client

  1. From the main Outlook window, highlight the email in question you want to forward.
  2. From the Respond toolbar click More.
  3. Select Forward As Attachment from the drop down.
  4. A new Email window will open with the Attached section containing the original email.
  5. Put any other information in the body of the email you feel is necessary.
  6. Click Send.
  7. Done!

OWA (Outlook Web Access)

  1. Log into OWA
  2. Click the New button to create a new email.
  3. Enter in abuse@rochester.edu in the To: field.
  4. Enter why you believe it is suspicious in the body of the text.
  5. In the upper right of the window you will see the icon circled in red below. Click this icon in order to create a new Window for this message.
  6. Take this new window and have it side by side with the main OWA inbox window. Now click and hold the left mouse button on the email message from the main OWA Inbox you want abuse@ur.rochester.edu to analyse and drag it (while still holding down the left mouse button) to the Body for the new mail message window and then let go of the button when your cursor is over the Body. Note: Once you click and hold the mouse and start to drag the cursor you will see be told exactly where to drop the message as seen below
  7. Click the Send button in the bottom left corner of the new message window.

 

Gmail Client

  1. Open the original email.
  2. Click the 3 vertical dots on the far right of the email.
  3. Click Download Message to save it.
  4. Open a new email.
  5. Put any other information in the body of the email you feel is necessary.
  6. Click Send.
