To request a WordPress site under your department’s directory on the central server please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Web Services will install and manage the installation for your team.
The domain blogs.rochester.edu is available for WP installations that are without space provided otherwise.
Web Services will perform updates to WordPress core software, themes, and plugins to all WordPress sites on central server.
WordPress minor versions (security/maintenance) will be installed at time of release.
WordPress major versions (features) will be installed monthly. The development environment is updated the first Monday of every month. The production environment will be updated the first Wednesday of every month.
All plugins and themes will follow the same schedule for updates.
Site owners should perform tests on their sites after sites on development are upgraded. If your testing reveals a problem resulting from updates, please email email@example.com by Tuesday at noon.
Custom Changes / Child Themes
All changes to third-party WordPress themes (themes you did not create yourself) should be enacted through a child theme. If not, changes will be over-written when an update is applied to that theme.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to have a child theme directory created for you.
