New Duo requirement for Google Applications

To address the growing threats of cyber, ransomware, and phishing attacks the need for enhanced cyber security is critical. To help protect you and the University from such attacks, starting on 11/16/2022  you will be required to use Duo two-factor authentication to access Google Workspace for Education applications when off the University network. This includes Gmail, Drive, Photos, Sheets, etc.

 

ACTION NEEDED:

 If you have a u.rochester.edu email and are:

Currently enrolled in Duo

  1. You will be prompted for Duo once you log into your Google account
  2. Select the authentication method
  3. No additional steps are needed

Not currently enrolled in Duo

  1. If you are on the University network, please enroll your NetID account through the MyIdentity self-service portal at https://tech.rochester.edu/enroll-in-duo/ **
  2. Select the device you are using and follow the guidance for NetID
  3. You will be prompted for Duo once you log into your Google account

**Connection to the University network is required. If you are not currently connected to the University network please call the University IT Help Desk (585)275-2000, option 5 for additional assistance.
